Jimmies land six on All-Conference teams; Ellie Holen named Co-Defender of the Year

Six members of the University of Jamestown women's volleyball team were honored by the Great Plains Athletic Conference as the league office announced its postseason awards.

Ellie Holen was named Co-Defensive Player of the Year and was a first-team selection. Holen led all GPAC players in digs with 409 and digs per set with 6.82. In all games, Holen currently has 772 digs which ranks third in the NAIA, and her 6.71 digs per set is second-best in the country.

Joining Holen on the first team was Aleah Zieske. Zieske ranked third among GPAC hitters with 240 kills and was fifth in kills per set with 4.00. In all matches, Zieske has compiled a team-high 423 kills, which currently ranks sixth on the Jimmies' single-season record list.

Darienne Johnson and Logan Sherman were named to the second team. Johnson's 112 blocks in all matches put her seventh among GPAC players, and her 60 blocks in conference play tied for 10th. She is third on the Jimmies with 242 kills and leads the team with a .326 hitting percentage. Sherman was second on the team with 249 kills and third with 59 blocks.

Honorable mention selections were Lexi Olson and Grace Hegerle. Olson posted 223 kills and hit .303, one of three Jimmies to hit .300 or better. She led the team with 102 block assists and 119 total blocks. Hegerle recorded 176 kills, 338 digs, and 52 blocks, which all ranked among the top four for Jimmie players in 2023.

Jamestown (23-9) hosts Benedictine (Kan.) Saturday at 7 p.m. in the NAIA Opening Round.
