Bio

Coach Sam Kludt’s passion for sports was developed at an early age. Starting in the 4th grade, Coach Kludt took part in basketball, and in the 7th grade started his football and track and field journey. This time as an athlete took him through highs and lows, instilling a deep understanding of the physical and mental aspects of sports.

When Coach Kludt graduated from high school, he enrolled at the University of Jamestown. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education Teacher Education with a minor in Character in Leadership. Coach Kludt  then went on to obtain his Master’s degree in Leadership, taking the Sports Leadership track. He walked on the track team his sophomore year and ran for the Jimmies for five years. In the last two year of his career, he was both an athlete and a Graduate Assistant Coach for the team.

After a career that produced multiple appearances at both the North Star Athletic Association conference championships and the Great Plains Athletic Conference championships, Coach Kludt hung up his spikes. Three months later he became a full-time assistant coach for the Jimmies, coaching sprints and eventually hurdles as well. Under his guidance and through many hours of hard work, his athletes have and continue to have lifetime-best performances. He has obtained his USATF Level 1 Coaching Certification and continues to look for opportunities to expand his knowledge base. Coach Kludt's love for coaching is driven by both the hard work his athletes put in on a daily basis and the feeling that comes with pushing his athlete’s to heights they themselves never thought possible.
