Jimmies beat Bruins for second straight win

PAPILLION, Neb .— The University of Jamestown women's soccer team won for the third time in its last four matches Saturday afternoon, defeating Bellevue University 3-2 at Papillion Landing.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Jamestown trailed 1-0 after Lily Humes scored for Bellevue in the 5th minute.
  • Orianna Borrome scored on a feed from Korey Puga to level the match at 1 in the 8th minute, then Sidney Mikes put the Jimmies ahead in the 10th minute with an assist by Vega Canada.
  • The first half ended with UJ holding a slight 8-7 edge in shots and corner kicks (3-0).
  • Alyssa Caton extended the Jamestown lead with her goal in the 63rd minute. Kyah Gabel got the assist.
  • Maju Serrano brought Bellevue within a goal in the 72nd minute but the game ended in a 3-2 final.
  • Shots were 16-11 in favor of Bellevue, as were shots on goal (12-10).
  • Allyson Johnson had ten saves for Jamestown.
