OMAHA, Neb.— Two second-half goals proved to be the difference for the University of Jamestown women's soccer team in a 2-0 season-opening win over College of Saint Mary Sunday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The teams played a scoreless opening half, with the Jimmies taking an 8-1 advantage in shots and a 5-1 edge in corner kicks into the break.
  • Twenty-two seconds into the second half, Alyssa Caton got UJ on the scoreboard. Caton took a pass from Bre Oettle and put the ball in the back of the net on the low right corner side.
  • Oettle helped the Jimmies double their lead in the 63rd minute, setting up Eve Hoppe's goal to make it 2-0.
  • Jamestown finished with 16 total shots—10 on goal—to CSM's three (two on goal).
  • Isa Garcia played the first 84 minutes between the sticks and made two saves before Allyson Johnson came on for the final six minutes to share the clean sheet.
  • Hoppe and Gaby Sarkis each put four shots on target, while Caton and Sidney Mikes each had one.
