Jimmies break losing streak with win at Concordia (Neb.)

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Jimmies got down 8-0 in the first five minutes of the first quarter. Two free throws by Kia Tower started the points for the Jimmies at 4:18 remaining.
  • In the next few possessions, the Jimmies made three three-pointers, one by Kate Busek and two back-to-back for Tower. This brought the Jimmies ahead 11-8. 
  • The Jimmie defense only allowed the Bulldogs two more points the rest of the quarter. Two free throws with 35 seconds left had the Jimmies leading the quarter 13-10. 
  • In the second period, the Bulldogs managed to tie the score twice. However, the Jimmies began to pull away eventually gaining a lead of 30-20 with 3:10 remaining. 
  • After that, the Jimmie defense again only allowed two Bulldog points, ending the half ahead 36-22. 
  • The Jimmies kept their lead the entire third quarter only allowing the Bulldogs to come as close as seven points. The third quarter ended 53-45. 
  • The Bulldogs started the fourth with four made free throws to trail the Jimmies by four. The Bulldogs eventually tied the Jimmies 55-55 with 6:30 left to play. 
  • Jimmies took their lead back, but the Bulldogs stayed close behind. With 1:08 remaining the Jimmies were up 65-61. 
  • The remaining minute, the Bulldogs were unable to score. The Jimmies made six free throws to end the game with a win, 71-61.
