Jimmies extend streak with wins over Dickinson State, Park-Gilbert

TUCSON, Ariz.-- The Jimmie softball team picked up two more wins Wednesday, defeating Dickinson State (N.D.) 12-1 in five innings and Park-Gilbert to run its winning streak to four games.

Tied at 1-1 going into the bottom of the second, UJ broke through for five runs, then added another in the third to make it 7-1. Not satisfied with a six-run lead, Jamestown tagged on five more in the fourth before holding DSU scoreless in the fifth, ending the game via run rule.

The Jimmies had 12 hits, and five Blue Hawk errors led to seven unearned runs. Gracie Fisher was 3-for-3 with a pair of runs batted in, and the duo of Sonya Rodgers and Camryn Schwab each hit 2-for-3. Schwab drove in three, while Rodgers and Gentrey Turin both knocked in a pair.

Abby Blair (4-2) went all five innings in the circle for UJ, throwing 42 of her 59 pitches for strikes. She allowed one run on two hits, struck out two and walked one.

Gentrey Turin and Trinity Gregg helped put Jamestown in front 2-0 in the second against Park-Gilbert, and those runs were enough for Sunny Halsey to work with. Halsey (5-1) had to pitch around a bases-loaded situation with only one out in the bottom of the seventh, holding Park-Gilbert to just an unearned run before retiring the final two hitters she faced.

Gregg had three of UJ's six hits, while Mackenzie Lefebvre and Skylar Thorpe both doubled. Samarah Martinez had the Jimmies' other hit.

Jamestown (9-7) is back in action Thursday with a 12 p.m. game against Siena Heights (Mich.) and a 2:30 tilt against University of Saint Francis (Ill.)
