ABERDEEN, S.D.-- The Jimmie softball team split a pair of games Friday at the PC Dome, defeating Dickinson State (N.D.) 7-2 after losing the opener 10-6 against Valley City State (N.D.)

HOW IT HAPPENED--GAME ONE

  • Maddie Spaeth, Gracie Fisher, Abby Blair, and Megan Neiles all drove in runs as Jamestown took an early 4-0 lead.
  • VCSU plated two in the bottom of the first and another in the second to cut the UJ lead to 4-3.
  • Neiles scored Spaeth with a single to center field in the top of the third, giving the Jimmies a 5-3 lead.
  • The Vikings put up six runs in the bottom of the third to go in front 9-5, then added another in the fifth.
  • Fisher's double in the top of the seventh brought home Spaeth for the final Jamestown run.

JAMESTOWN STAT LEADERS

  • Spaeth was 3-for-3 with an RBI and three runs scored.
  • Fisher went 2-for-4 and drove in two.
  • Trinity Gregg and Abby Blair both doubled.

HOW IT HAPPENED--GAME TWO

  • Gracie Fisher blasted a three-run home run and Megan Neiles doubled to score Samarah Martinez to give the Jimmies a 4-0 lead in the bottom of the first.
  • The Blue Hawks scored single runs in the top of the second and third to cut UJ's lead in half.
  • Maddie Spaeth's two-run double scored Trinity Gregg and Skylar Thorpe to make it 6-2; then Martinez brought in Spaeth with a single to left for a 7-2 advantage.

JAMESTOWN STAT LEADERS

  • Martinez and Thorpe each went 2-for-3 at the plate.
  • Gregg scored twice and reached base in three of four plate appearances.
  • Abby Blair allowed two runs on six hits, striking out four in her first complete game of the season.

  • The Jimmies have two more games in the dome on Saturday.
  • UJ plays MSU-Moorhead at 12:30 p.m. and Dickinson State at 5:30 p.m.
