Jimmies unable to overcome two-goal deficit at No. 5 Bellevue

PAPILLION, Neb.— The University of Jamestown men's soccer team took on No. 5 Bellevue University Saturday afternoon in its second to last game of the season. The Bruins built a 2-0 halftime lead on the way to a 2-1 victory at Papillion Landing.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Bellevue opened the scoring in the 19th minute with a goal by Jose-Miguel Boggio, then doubled their lead 33 seconds later on a goal from Giovani Lima Soares.
  • Jake Simson got the Jimmies into the score column as he converted a penalty kick in the 84th minute to make it a 2-1 score.
  • Oscar Salgado had a shot go high in the 88th minute and another shot saved by Bellevue keeper Taariq Ganga three seconds from time, but the match ended 2-1 in favor of the Bruins.
  • Shots ended 14-9 in favor of Bellevue, and the Bruins finished with a 10-4 edge in corner kicks as well as a 6-5 advantage in shots on goal.
  • Charlie Clark had four saves for the Jimmies
