Four-goal second half sinks Jimmies at No. 16 Columbia

COLUMBIA, Mo.— Four second-half goals by No. 16 Columbia College proved to be the difference as the University of Jamestown men's soccer team dropped a 6-2 decision Saturday afternoon to the Cougars at R. Marvin Owens Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Jamestown found themselves down 2-0 just 4:18 into the match, but kept the scoreline the same until halftime. Although the Cougars outshot UJ 10-2 in the opening 45 minutes, none of the other eight were on target.
  • Columbia extended their lead to 3-0 with a goal in the 55th minute, but Alejandro Tocino Vidal converted a penalty kick in the 56th minute to get the Jimmies within 3-1.
  • A 60th minute goal by Columbia made it 4-1, and it wasn't until the 86th minute that UJ would find the back of the net again.
  • Joel Hyland set up Oscar Salgado for Jamestown's second goal of the match, once again making it a two-goal match.
  • Columbia slotted home a pair of goals one minute apart in the waning moments of the match for a 6-2 final.
  • Shots ended 18-7 in favor of the Cougars, including an 8-4 advantage in shots on goal.
