Aburto's brace helps lead Jimmies to comeback win

Daniel Aburto scored twice to help lead the University of Jamestown men's soccer team to a come-from-behind 3-2 victory Wednesday evening at Charlotte & Gordon Hansen Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Vladislav Burkov put the Tigers in front with his goal in the 20th minute.
  • A little under ten minutes later, Cesar Requena doubled the DWU lead with his tally in the 30th minute.
  • Aburto notched his first of the match in the 47th minute, taking the ball away from a Tiger defender and beating goalkeeper Hunter Birozy.
  • Joel Hyland tied the match in the 60th minute, winning possession from the DWU defense and slotting the ball past the keeper.
  • In the 73rd minute, Aburto put UJ ahead with his fifth goal of the season, and the Jimmie defense made the goal the eventual game-winner.

FOR THE JIMMIES

  • Mathew English made his first start between the sticks and made two saves.
  • Jamestown outshot DWU 24-10 overall and had a 10-4 edge in shots on goal.
  • Wade McWhorter had three shots on goal for UJ.
