Jimmies beaten by No. 22 Concordia

The University of Jamestown men's soccer team took an early lead against No. 22 Concordia (Neb.) University, but the Bulldogs responded with a pair of goals in the second half to defeat the Jimmies 2-1 Saturday evening at Charlotte & Gordon Hansen Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Daniel Aburto was a late addition to the starting lineup for UJ head coach Connor Campbell, and the move paid off as Aburto put the Jimmies ahead in the fourth minute. It was his third goal of the season and second in his last three matches.
  • Aburto nearly doubled the Jamestown lead in the eighth minute, but Concordia goalkeeper Gabriel Mendoza made a great save to keep the score 1-0.
  • Martin Herrera had Concordia's best chance at scoring the equalizer, only to be denied by UJ goalkeeper Myles Ragar.
  • D'Andre Williams tied the match in the 48th minute for CUNE, and the goal provided a spark for the Bulldogs.
  • The Jimmies were unable to muster a shot in the second half after getting four in the opening forty-five minutes.
  • Williams put Concordia in front with his second of the match, coming in the 83rd minute.

FOR THE JIMMIES

  • Ragar finished with four saves in his first start of the season.
  • Aburto had both UJ shots on goal and three of the team's four shots overall.
