Jimmies suffer single-goal loss at Northwestern

ORANGE CITY, Iowa-- The University of Jamestown men's soccer team found itself in a defensive battle with Northwestern College Saturday afternoon, but the Jimmies came up on the wrong end of a 1-0 scoreline.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • After a scoreless first half with each team getting two shots on target, the Red Raiders got on the board in the 50th minute as Stan van den Beld scored off of a corner kick.
  • Jamestown's first scoring chance of the second half came on a shot by Jacob Holtz in the 70th minute.
  • Daniel Aburto had UJ's other second-half shot in the 86th minute, but the attempt went high over the crossbar.

FOR THE JIMMIES

  • Charlie Clark had two saves in 44 minutes played and Myles Ragar made three saves after coming on as a substitute late in the first half.
  • James Moody and Noris Rombeck also had shots on goal for Jamestown.
  • Six of UJ's seven losses this season have been by one goal.
