Men's soccer opens GPAC schedule with scoreless draw at Midland

FREMONT, Neb.-- The University of Jamestown men's soccer team played to a 0-0 draw against Midland University Thursday evening in the GPAC opener for both teams.

The Jimmies' record is now 1-4-2 (0-0-1 GPAC) while Midland is now 2-3-1 (0-0-1 GPAC). UJ will play at Morningside (Iowa) University Saturday at 5:30 p.m.

UJ had one shot on goal in the first half, a header by James Moody that was saved by Midland goalkeeper Marco Moresco in the 39th minute. Jamestown had three shots overall in the opening forty-five minutes.

In the second half, shots were nearly even (7-6 Jamestown) as were shots on target (4-3 Midland). 

Frankie Parkinson had UJ's first second-half attempt on target in the 82nd minute, then following a Jimmie corner kick, had another denied by Moresco in the 83rd minute. 

Midland's last scoring chance came in the 69th on a shot by Riley Barratt but Charlie Clark made the save. Clark finished with seven saves in recording his first clean sheet of the season.

Following Saturday's match at Morningside, UJ will host Hastings (Neb.) on September 20 at 5:30 p.m.
