Men's soccer plays to 1-1 draw with Central Christian College

SILOAM SPRINGS, Ark.-- Frankie Parkinson scored on a free kick in the 58th minute and Charlie Clark had six saves in goal as the University of Jamestown men's soccer team played to a 1-1 draw against Central Christian College (Kan.) Friday evening. 

The Jimmies' record moves to 1-2-1 while CCCK is 2-0-1.

Shots were 6-5 in favor of the Tigers over the first 45 minutes, with Clark stopping all five shots on target. 

Parkinson broke the scoreless tie as he found the back of the net on a free kick from the top of the box. It was his first goal of the season. 

The Tigers drew level in the 68th minute on a goal by Johnny Rodriguez. 

The final 13 minutes of the match saw UJ putting the offensive pressure on CCCK and goalkeeper Rodolfo Ramirez. Jamestown managed six shots down the stretch, including a header by Dylan Kitto that hit the post in the 87th minute.

Rodriguez had the game's final scoring chance in the 88th minute but was denied by Clark to keep the score at 1-1.

Shots were 13-9 Jamestown and each team had seven attempts on target.

The Jimmies will face University of Providence (Mont.) on September 8 at 5 PM in Billings, Mont.
