Crombie's brace keys Jimmies in home opener victory

Jack Crombie scored two first-half goals as the University of Jamestown men's soccer team won their home opener 6-0 over Oak Hills Christian College Friday afternoon at Charlotte and Gordon Hansen Stadium.

Joel Hyland and Daniel Aburto also found the back of the net for the Jimmies in the opening forty-five minutes.

Hyland opended the scoring in the 15th minute, then Crombie doubled UJ's lead just 43 seconds later.  A shot by Noris Rombeck deflected off an Oak Hills defender for an own goal in the 16th minute as Jamestown notched three scores in 109 seconds.

Crombie's second came in the 33rd minute and Aburto rounded out the first half scoring in the 37th.

Jacob Holtz's 73rd minute strike finished the Jimmies' goal flurry and was the only tally in the second half.

Jamestown outshot Oak Hills 26-1 overall and had a 13-1 edge in shots on goal. Charlie Clark recorded UJ's lone save.

The Jimmies, now 1-1-0 on the year, play at John Brown (Ark.) on Friday, September 1 at 7 PM.
