The University of Jamestown men's soccer team returned to winning ways in convincing fashion, defeating Presentation (S.D.) College 6-0 Thursday evening at the Jimmie Turf Field.
Jamestown ended a seven-match winless streak (0-6-1), earning their first conference win of the season and first victory since September 4.
Austin Shafer (SR/Jamestown, N.D.) and Diego Righi (FR/Dusseldorf, Germany) each scored twice to help the Jimmies tie their season-high for goals in a match. Axcele Bitgehe and Frankie Parkinson (SO/Bournemouth, England) also had goals as UJ built a 4-0 lead going into to halftime.
Shafer's first of the match came in the eighth minute, then Bitgehe made it 2-0 in the 23rd. Righi's brace came in just 27 seconds, with the first coming exactly eleven minutes from the half. Shafer pushed the lead to 5-0 in the 60th minute and Parkinson rounded out the scoring in the 67th minute.
Bitgehe recorded a pair of assists while Shafer, Jack Crombie (SO/Edinburgh, Scotland), Wade McWhorter (FR/Loveland, Colo.), and Joel Hyland (SO/Manchester, England) each had an assist.
Mathew English (SO/Fort Walton Beach, Fla.) made four saves and shared the clean sheet with Myles Ragar (FR/Billings, Mont.), who came on in the 87th minute.
Both shots (17-5) and shots on goal (9-4) ended in favor of Jamestown.
