Jared Lentz named new head coach of Jimmie men's and women's golf

University of Jamestown Director of Athletics Austin Hieb has announced Jared Lentz as the new head coach of Jimmie men's and women's golf.

"Jared is going to be a great addition to our athletic department," Hieb said. "His passion for the game of golf paired with his desire to help others succeed makes him a great fit to lead our golf programs."

"I appreciate Dr. Peterson and Austin Hieb for giving me the opportunity to join and lead this program," said Lentz. "The excitement from the athletic department is contagious and I cannot wait to get started. There is a lot of talent returning on both teams as well as some talented newcomers. I hope my personal experience and golf knowledge can help these student-athletes continue to improve."

Lentz played collegiately at Valley City State (N.D.) University. During his four years on the team, Lentz recorded six career wins, two top-ten finishes at the North Stat Athletic Association Championships and was a two-time Daktronics NAIA Scholar-Athlete. He improved his scoring average by four strokes per round from his freshman to senior year and finished his final season with three wins. Lentz is active on the amateur golf circuit and has two Jamestown Country Club Labor Day Match play championships to his credit.

Prior to joining UJ, Lentz spent four years as a high school basketball assistant coach at Valley City High School. Lentz has also worked with multiple golf coaches, as well as two PGA professional teachers in the Fargo-Moorhead area.
