University of Jamestown men’s basketball head coach Casey Bruggeman announced the hiring of Tath Dak as an assistant coach.

“We are thrilled to welcome Coach Tath Dak to our program,” said Bruggeman. “Tath has spent the past two seasons as an assistant coach with Southwest Minnesota State University, which is one of the most consistent and well-run programs in all of Division II. Coach Tath is smart, hard-working, and a positive role model for the young men he coaches. He will bring a tremendous amount of passion and care to the University of Jamestown and our men’s basketball program.  We could not be more excited to have Coach Tath as a part of our program. Go Jimmies!”

SMSU was 35-25 during Dak’s time on staff, and this season made its first NCAA Division II tournament appearance since 2018.

“Joining the University of Jamestown as the new assistant basketball is an absolute honor,” Dak said. “I am both thrilled and humbled to be a part of a program with such a rich basketball legacy. I am deeply thankful to Coach Bruggeman for entrusting me with this opportunity! Go Jimmies!”

Originally from Lincoln, Neb., Dak played for four seasons at the University of Minnesota-Morris and served as team captain, earning his bachelor’s degree in financial management in 2022. He will receive his master’s degree in education and sports leadership from SMSU in 2024.
