HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Lancers led the Jimmies for the majority of the first half but never more than five points. The Jimmies got within one bucket several times as fought to get ahead.
  • With only .44 seconds to go, the Jimmies took the lead with free throws from Colby Vazquez. The first half went to the Jimmies, 36-34. 
  • Cole Woodford and Vazquez each had seven points for the Jimmies in the first half. 
  • Four points from Jimmy Llinas and five from Silas Bennion opened up the second half and extended the Jimmies lead to 45-38, forcing a Lancer timeout. 
  • Out of the timeout, the Jimmies scored seven unanswered points to gain a lead of 14. 
  • Points went back and forth, and the Lancers managed to get within ten with 8:57 to play and within eight with 4:58 to play. 
  • However, the Jimmies continued to outscore the Lancers in the remaining minutes. They ended up winning by nine, 88-79. 
  • Vazquez led Jimmie scoring in the second half with 16 points. Bennion followed with 13 points.
