HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Four minutes into play the Jimmies led 13-8. An and one from the Lancers put them behind two.
  • The Jimmies scored nine points over the next few minutes and held the Lancers to zero (22-11). 
  • At 10:00 left in the first half the Jimmies led 26-13. The Lancers responded with an 10-2 run to trail five. With points from Will Cordes, Brooks Carroll, and Colby Vazquez the Jimmies got their lead back to double digits (36-25). 
  • In the remaining two minutes, the Lancers scored seven points, and the Jimmies scored nine all outside the arc—two from Vazquez, one from Antonio Chandler. The half ended in favor if the Jimmies, 45-32. 
  • Vazquez led scoring in the first with 15 points, going 3 for 3 outside the arc. 
  • Cordes opened up the second half with three points. The Lancers responded with six straight points to trail ten. 
  • At 14:07 left, the Lancers had fought back to get within five points of the Jimmies (47-52). Then, out of a Lancer timeout the Jimmies went on a 9-0 run—six points from Chandler layups. 
  • Again, the Lancers had to chip away to catch up. At 4:49 to play, they trailed 61-65 and at 3:53 trailed 63-65, forcing a Jimmie timeout. 
  • Although the Lancers outscored the Jimmies 8-7 in the remaining minutes and hit a last second three, the Jimmies had still had one point over them to win the game 72-71. 
  • Chandler led scoring in the second with six points. 

FOR THE JIMMIES

  • Vazquez led the team in scoring with 15 points. 
  • Chandler (13) and Cordes (10) also put-up double figures. 
  • Jimmy Llinas grabbed 11 rebounds and tagged on seven points and four blocks.

FOR THE LANCERS

  • Three players had 15 points: Jared Lopez, Cole Bowen, and Jake Jensen.
  • Angok Akot had eight rebounds.
