HOW IT HAPPENED

  • A Jimmy Llinas dunk started the game for the Jimmies. The Mustangs responded with a layup and three threes to lead 11-2 and force a Jimmie timeout. 
  • Cole Woodford hit back-to-back threes out of the timeout to put the Jimmies right back in the game. 
  • However, as the Jimmies struggled to score, the Mustangs went for 11 unanswered points to lead 22-8 with 13:21 to play in the first half. 
  • The Jimmies chipped away managing to close the gap to 24-31 and forced a Mustang timeout. 
  • The Jimmies finally tied the Mustangs 33-33 at 2:40 remaining. The Mustangs scored seven more points while holding the Jimmies to two and ended the half ahead 40-35. 
  • Woodford had 12 points in the first half all from outside the arc. Silas Bennion followed with 11 points. 
  • The Jimmies tied the score again (44-44) about three minutes into the second half with points from Bennion, Llinas, and Woodford. They found a two-point lead soon after with a layup from Colby Vazquez
  • Then, the Jimmies scored four unanswered points to extend their lead to 52-46 with 15:27 to go. The Mustangs did not find a lead the rest of the game. 
  • The Jimmies continued to extend their lead and led by double digits for a while, but the Mustangs fought back only trailed by two with 7:26 to play. 
  • However, the Jimmies continued to battle and managed to fend off the Mustangs to secure the road win, 88-83.

  • Ely Doble and Jack Dotzler each grabbed six rebounds.
