HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Jimmies and the Comets kept a close game the first half. The largest lead was held by the Jimmies six minutes into play (14-8).
  • The Comets quickly responded with a 10-3 run to lead 18-17. Points were tight the next seven minutes as the teams fought to take the lead. 
  • With 6:25 on the clock, the Comets took a lead of 26-24 and managed to keep it to end the half ahead 40-37.  
  • With 15 points, 12 of them coming from outside the arc, Silas Bennion discouraged the Comets from gaining a lead of more than five in the first half. Cole Woodford and Colby Vazquez contributed with two threes each.  
  • Another Bennion three started the Jimmies points in the second half. Will Cordes hit a jumper and tagged on two threes, and Antonio Chandler put up two to help the team lead 50-44. 
  • Will Cordes put up a third three to extend the Jimmie's lead to eight. The Comets did not see a lead the rest of the game. 
  • The game got tight with 1:00 on the clock as the Comets trailed 71-72. A Woodford three and Cordes steal leading to free throws put the Jimmies out of reach and they took the home win 77-73.
