Off-shooting night sends No. 9 Jimmies to loss at 25th-ranked Morningside

SIOUX CITY, Iowa-- The ninth-ranked Jimmie men's basketball team couldn't find their shot Friday night, falling 75-48 at No. 25 Morningside (Iowa) University.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Jamestown opened the game on a 7-0 run, then the Mustangs scored 27 straight for a 20-point lead with 7:15 in the half.
  • UJ went 11:03 without a point until Cole Woodford made a three-pointer to stop the skid.
  • Mason Walters had eight of the Jimmies' 10 points to close the half, helping cut the deficit to 36-24 at the break.
  • The second half opened with a Walters basket to bring Jamestown within 10 (36-26).
  • Morningside went on a 10-0 run to double their lead just under three minutes into the half.
  • The Jimmies got no closer than 17 points (50-33) after a three-point play by Reid Gastner at the 13:27 mark.
  • Justin Sitti gave the Mustangs their biggest lead of the night (29 points) with 38 seconds left.

  • UJ shot 29.7 percent (19-of-64) from the floor, including 17.9 percent (5-of-28) on three-point attempts.
  • Walters had 12 points and eight rebounds, while Gastner had a double-double of 10 points and 12 rebounds.
