#11 Jimmies hit triple digits in win over Midland

The 11th-ranked Jimmie men's basketball team scored 100 or more points for the eighth time this season as they defeated Midland (Neb.) University 104-87 Saturday afternoon at Harold Newman Arena.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Jimmies shot 67 percent (22-of-33) overall in the first half, making 11-of-18 three-point attempts on the way to a 62-43 halftime lead.
  • UJ opened the game on a 10-2 run and eventually went up by 20 after a Cole Woodford three-pointer made it 39-19.
  • Marc Kjos gave Jamestown their largest lead of the half (58-33) on a three-pointer at the 2:35 mark.
  • Midland finished the half with 10 of the last 14 points to cut the deficit to 19 at the break.
  • Mason Walters, Will Cordes, and Woodford each had baskets to start the second half as the Jimmies built the lead back up to 24.
  • The Warriors got within 19 points after a three by Emanuel Bryson at the 16:58 mark, but Jamestown kept a 20-plus point lead for most of the game.
  • Jimmy Llinas scored to give UJ a 95-66 lead, their largest of the game, but Midland finished on a 21-9 run to make the score appear closer than it was.

JAMESTOWN GAME NOTES

  • UJ shot 61.9 percent (39-of-63) from the floor, including 48.3 percent (14-of-29) on three-point attempts.
  • Walters led the Jimmies with 29 points and nine rebounds.
  • Woodford went 6-of-8 from beyond the arc on the way to 22 points.
  • Cordes was also in double figures with 15 points, and Llinas narrowly missed a double-double, finishing with 10 points and eight rebounds.
  • Cordes passed 1000 career points with a three-pointer at 5:28 of the first half, giving the Jimmies three players with 1000 or more career points (Kjos and Walters).
  • Walters and Kjos were honored before the game in the Jimmies' annual Senior Day festivities.

MIDLAND GAME NOTES

  • Midland shot 47.2 percent (34-of-72) from the floor, including 40.9 percent (9-of-22) on three-point attempts.
  • Jake Orr had 23 points, six rebounds, six steals, and five assists for the Warriors, who also got 20 points from Bryson.
  • Ryan Larsen added 10 points and four rebounds.
