#11 Jimmies roll to 36-point win over Mount Marty

The 11th-ranked Jimmie men's basketball team sank a season-high 19 three-point field goals in a 104-68 win over Mount Marty (S.D.) University Wednesday evening at Harold Newman Arena.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • A pair of Mason Walters baskets bookended three-pointers by Cole Woodford, Will Cordes, and Marc Kjos as the Jimmies opened up a 13-0 lead just 2:47 into the game.
  • Colby Vazquez extended UJ's lead to 26-10 with a three at the 10:16 mark.
  • Mount Marty closed the gap to 34-26 after Tash Lunday's basket with 5:45 before halftime.
  • Cordes scored five straight points to help Jamestown start a 9-2 run that pushed the lead back to 15 (43-28) just over two minutes later.
  • Woodford and Walters made three-pointers as the Jimmies scored eight of the final ten points of the half, taking a 53-34 lead into the break.
  • Walters put UJ ahead 58-38 just over two minutes into the second half, and the ensuing 14-0 run capped by a Walters three-point play made it 72-38 at the 13:14 mark.
  • The Jimmies' largest lead of the night came after Marcus Sherwood's bucket made it 98-57 with 3:38 left.

JAMESTOWN GAME NOTES

  • The Jimmies shot 59.4 percent (38-of-64) from the floor, including 54.3 percent (19-of-35) from three-point range.
  • Walters posted a double-double of 24 points and 11 rebounds.
  • Woodford shot 5-of-6 from three on the way to 15 points. Cordes added 13 points and Kjos had 11 along with six assists.
  • Vazquez had nine points, four rebounds, and four assists off the bench.

MOUNT MARTY GAME NOTES

  • The Lancers shot 46.6 percent (27-of-58) from the floor, including 25 percent (4-of-16) from three-point range.
  • Lunday and Cole Bowen each had 15 points, with Bowen adding eight rebounds and four assists.
  • Mount Marty had 14 points off turnovers.
