Sixth-ranked Jimmies shoot 62 percent in win over Hastings

The sixth-ranked University of Jamestown men's basketball team had all five starters in double figures in a 104-67 win over Hastings (Neb.) Friday evening at Harold Newman Arena.

Jamestown (8-1, 3-1 GPAC) shot 62.3 percent as a team, including 16-of-25 (64 percent) in the first half.

Mason Walters (SR/Jamestown, ND) led the way with 26 points and eight rebounds, becoming the first UJ player to surpass 2000 career points and 1000 career rebounds. Walters also finished with four blocks, three steals, and three assists.

The Jimmies never trailed against the Broncos (8-1, 2-1 GPAC), who fell from the ranks of the unbeaten.

Marc Kjos (SR/Lake City, MN) gave Jamestown its first double-digit lead of the half with a three-pointer at the 5:25 mark. Camron Ketchum (SO/Billings, MT)'s bucket with 1:34 put the Jimmies in front by 16, then five straight points from Walters helped make it a 43-24 lead at the half.

The second half was all Jamestown as they put up 61 points over the final twenty minutes. The largest lead of the night came on a basket by Colby Vazquez (JR/Millbrae, CA) that made it 84-44.

Cole Woodford (JR/Redwood Falls, MN) made four of five three-point attempts, scoring 14 points along with Reid Gastner (SO/Lake City, MN). Vazquez ended with 12 in his first start of the season, and Kjos finished with 10 points and four assists.

Grady Corrigan led Hastings with 13 points off the bench. Reggie Thomas was the other Bronco to reach double digits, scoring 10.
