Seven-run seventh helps baseball to split at DWU

MITCHELL, S.D.-- The University of Jamestown baseball team bounced back from a game one loss in Sunday's doubleheader against Dakota Wesleyan University, defeating the Tigers 13-3 to take three of the four games in the weekend series.

GAME 1 HIGHLIGHTS

• Two runs in the bottom of the seventh capped off a comeback victory for the Tigers.
• Three straight base hits with one out led to the tying run, then after an intentional walk loaded the bases, Hayden Brown (0-1) struck out Oscar Pravacek, but the pitch was in the dirt. Drew Kitchens came home with the winning run.
• Ryan Muizelaar's two-run single gave Jamestown a 2-0 lead in the first, and Jackson Bonneville led off the fourth with a solo home run to make it 3-0.
• The Tigers tied the game with three runs in the bottom of the fourth, then took the lead with a single run in the fifth.
• A two-run triple by Chase Burke put the Jimmies back in front 5-4 in the top of the sixth.
• DWU tied the game with a single run in the bottom of the sixth.
• Jett Nelson singled to bring home Riki Okamoto with the go-ahead run in the top of the seventh.
• Burke (2-for-3, 2 RBI, 1 R), Bonneville (2-for-4, 2 R, 1 RBI) Triston Madison (2-for-4, 1 R) had multiple hit games.

GAME 2 HIGHLIGHTS

• Twelve unanswered runs helped Jamestown take a 13-3 seven-inning victory in game two.
• A two-run home run by Jett Nelson and a solo shot by Hayden Brown made it 4-3 Jimmies in the top of the fourth.
• Alex Alva and Chase Burke hit back-to-back run-scoring doubles in the top of the sixth, making it a three-run lead.
• Seven runs in the seventh, all coming with two outs, put UJ ahead by double digits. Jackson Bonneville, Isaiah Roebuck, Alva, and Burke hit consecutive singles to score runs, then with runners on the corners, Ben Swennumson hit a three-run pinch-hit home run as the Jimmies took a commanding 13-3 lead.
• Ethan Petty (1-1) struck out five in 2 1/3 innings of relief to get the win.
• Burke (3-for-5, 3 RBI, 1 R), Alva (2-for-4, 2 R, 2 RBI), and Brown (2-for-3, 1 RBI, 1 R) led Jamestown's 13-hit attack.
