TUCSON, Ariz.-- The University of Jamestown baseball team opened play in the Tucson Invitational Games on Saturday with a sweep of Dickinson State (N.D.) University. The Jimmies took game one 16-15 and game two by a score of 7-2.

GAME 1 HIGHLIGHTS
• Jamestown scored seven times in both of the second and third innings as the score was 14-5 going into the top of the fourth.
Triston Madison's grand slam in the second broke a 3-3 tie and put UJ ahead 7-3. Jett Nelson drove in the first run of the inning with a triple, then Hayden Brown and Jackson Bonneville followed with run-scoring doubles.
• Madison, Jordan Singleton, and Isaiah Roebuck each drove in two runs as part of the Jimmies' third inning.
• Bonneville extended Jamestown's lead to 15-5 with a single in the fourth, and it looked like UJ was in control. However, the Blue Hawks scored two in the fourth and three more in the fifth to cut the deficit to 15-10.
• A throwing error by DSU's catcher with two outs in the sixth allowed Alex Alva to come home with the Jimmies' 16th run of the game.
• The Blue Hawks made things interesting in the bottom of the seventh, putting four runs across and getting the tying run into scoring position with two outs, before Brown struck out the final DSU hitter to thwart the comeback.
• Madison, Nelson, Bonneville, Roebuck, and Brown combined for 10 of UJ's 14 hits.

GAME 2 HIGHLIGHTS
Cade Torgerson struck out 13 batters in a complete game victory as the Jimmies completed the sweep with a 7-2 win.
Hayden Brown's two-run home run gave Jamestown a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the second. Chase Burke followed with a two-run triple later in the inning to make it 4-0.
• An RBI double by Triston Madison in the fourth and another by Jackson Bonneville in the fifth pushed the advantage to 6-0.
• DSU plated a pair of runs in the sixth, but UJ got one of them back on Brown's RBI double in the seventh.
• Burke, Brown, Bonneville, and Alex Alva each had two hits.

SUNDAY
• Jamestown faced Carthage College in a single nine-inning game on Sunday. The Jimmies rallied from a two-run deficit to tie the game in the top of the ninth, but Carthage scored the winning run in their final at-bat for a 5-4 victory.

Chase Burke walked with one out in the top of the first, then stole second. Triston Madison singled to score Burke and give UJ a 1-0 lead.
• Carthage took the lead with a pair of runs in the bottom of the third, and the score remained 2-1 going into the sixth.
• With Jordan Singleton on second base and one out in the sixth, Jett Nelson bunted for a base hit, but a throwing error by the pitcher allowed Nelson to advance from second and Singleton to cross the plate.
• Two runs in the bottom of the eighth put Carthage ahead 4-2 as the Jimmies came to the plate in the ninth.
Alex Alva singled with two outs, then Burke followed with a single to put runners on the corners. Madison came through with an infield single to score Alva, and a throwing error let Burke score all the way from second.
