Jimmies sweep DWU; score most runs since 2018

All nine spots in the batting order contributed for the Jimmie baseball team in a 22-5 win against Dakota Wesleyan (S.D.) University Friday afternoon at Jack Brown Stadium, clinching a sweep of the GPAC conference doubleheader.

The Jimmies improve to 25-17 overall and 14-10 in the conference, while DWU falls to 11-30 overall, 6-20 in the GPAC.

Game 1:
DWU led 2-0 going into the bottom of the fourth but Julian Sansores homered to tie the game

Jordan Singleton drove in the go-ahead run with a two-out single in the bottom of the fifth. Hayden Brown followed with a double to left center, scoring Singleton to make it 4-2.

Luke Zimmer (8-1) struck out four in six innings to get the win. He allowed two runs on six hits and walked just one. Brown got the final three outs in the seventh for his sixth save of the season.

Game 2:
Kendall Yackley, Jordan Singleton, Hayden Brown, Isaiah Roebuck, Julian Sansores, and Chase Burke all had three-hit games and 12 different players had at least one hit in a 22-5 win.

Brown hit a pair of home runs and drove in four runs, while Singleton and Yackley each drove in three. Sansores hit three doubles and Burke tripled twice as twelve of Jamestown's hits went for extra bases.

Elias Harris (1-2) earned his first win as a Jimmie, pitching five innings while allowing four runs on seven hits, striking out three. Tanner Boe and Connor Nipp each worked an inning to combine for the victory.

UJ led 7-0 after one and 9-1 after two before breaking the game wide open with six in the third. After being held off the board in the fourth, the Jimmies plated seven more runs over the final two innings. The 22 runs were the most for Jamestown since a 23-8 win over Dakota State (S.D.) on April 29, 2018, nearly five years to the day.
