Four goals in the second period ended up being the difference for the University of Jamestown women's hockey team as the 9th-ranked Jimmies defeated ACHA Division 2 Dakota College at Bottineau 5-1 Friday evening at John L. Wilson Arena.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Neither team scored in the first period, with the Jimmies outshooting the Lumberjacks 12-3.
  • Jayden Baker gave Jamestown a 1-0 lead with her third goal of the season at 4:53 of the second, with an assist by Alyssa Lingen.
  • Madison Knudson doubled UJ's lead at 7:04 of the second, scoring her first of the year. Crystal Wale got the assist.
  • Wale and Knudson accounted for the Jimmies' third goal at 11:08, this time Wale lighting the lamp and Knudson setting up the goal.
  • Gracie Fisher's first career goal came on the power play at 12:13 as Jamestown stretched their lead to 4-0. Jaeda Clayton and Gaby Schroder assisted on the goal.
  • Jenesha Hammond got the Lumberjacks on the board with 48 seconds left in the second, assisted by Michelle Landsverk.
  • Wale rounded out the scoring in the third period, picking up her eighth of the year at 5:51. Assisting on the goal was Sam Beaulac.

FOR THE JIMMIES

  • Makenzie Gibson stopped 13 of the 14 shots she faced in the victory.
  • Wale had two goals and three points for the third time this season.  
  • Jamestown had a 36-14 advantage in shots on goal.
