HOW IT HAPPENED
- Set One (25-15)
The Jimmies were error-free on the attack in the opener, hitting .583 with 14 kills on 24 attempts. Caydann Cox's kill made it 7-1 in favor of UJ, and OUAZ would get no closer than 13-7. Jamestown would go on to lead by as many as nine, and closed out the set by winning four of the last five points.
- Set Two (27-29)
OUAZ handed the Jimmies their first set loss of the season, but had to withstand a valiant comeback effort in doing so. Trailing 14-9, UJ won three straight points to get within 14-12, then eventually took a 17-16 lead after a block by Myers. OUAZ put together a rally of their own to go back in front 20-18, but a service error and attack error brought the Jimmies level. From there, the teams traded points, and UJ was holding on to a 27-26 lead following a service error. OUAZ finished with the last three points and tied the match.
- Set Three (25-23)
Neither team built more than a two-point lead until a 3-0 run put OUAZ ahead 21-18. Swiderski's kill along with blocks by Myers and Hackley tied the score, but OUAZ won the next point to retake the lead. Caylor Cox had a kill, followed by blocks from Myers and Caydann Cox, to put the Jimmies at set point. OUAZ staved off defeat for one more point, but committed a service error on the next play to give UJ a 2-1 match lead.
- Set Four (26-24)
Jamestown played from behind early as OUAZ went up 7-4, but a Myers kill helped the Jimmies win six of the next seven points for a 10-8 lead. UJ led by as many as four after Hackley's kill made it 14-10. OUAZ cut the lead in the half, but then made three straight attack errors to help Jamestown extend their advantage to 17-12. The Jimmies appeared to have the set in hand at 21-18 before OUAZ came back to tie. UJ eventually faced a 24-23 deficit, but won the final three points to stay undefeated after three matches.
