Jimmie Men's Golf Competes at the Maverick Invite

The University of Jamestown men's golf team opened their season August 28-29 at the Maverick Invitational on the 72 par, 6447-yard Faribault Golf Club. 

August 28th recap:

Max Noffsinger (JR/Ft. Collins, Colo.) shot at 1-under 71. Gehrig Geiss (JR/Glen Ullin, N.D.) and Aidan Hall (FR/Gardner, N.D.) both shot at 3-over 75. Jackson Worner (SR/West Fargo, N.D.) shot at 6-over 78, and Cole Campbell (FR/Oxbow, N.D.) shot at 7-over 79. 

As a team, the men shot 299 and placed 3rd of 5. 

Logan Douglas (SO/Stanley, England) and Ben Hines (FR/Detroit Lakes, Minn.) played as individuals and shot at 1-over 73 and 10-over 82, respectively. 

August 29th recap: 

Four Jimmies placed in the top 20. Max Noffsinger (JR/Ft. Collins, Colo.) tied for 9th at 5-over 149 (71-78). Gehrig Geiss (JR/Glen Ullin, N.D.), Aidan Hall (FR/Gardner, N.D.), and Jackson Worner (SR/West Fargo, N.D.) tied for 18th. Gehrig and Aidan shot at 9-over 153 (75-78), and Jackson at 9-over (78-75). Cole Campbell (FR/Oxbow, N.D.) tied for 33rd at 17-over 161 (79-82). 

The Jimmies scored 608 (299-309) as a team and ended up placing 4th. Taking 1st place as a team was Minnesota State University with a score of 569 (291-278). Second place was Hastings College with a score of 586 (288-298). Hastings also had the first-place finisher, Gabriel Escalera, at 7-under 137 (68-69). Third place went to Minot State with 604 (309-295). 

Playing as individuals, Logan Douglas (SO/Stanley, England) tied for 27th at 13-over 157 (73-84); and Ben Hines (FR/Detriot Lakes, Minn.) placed 38th at 21-over 165 (82-83). 

The men's golf team competes next at the UJ Fall Invite September 11-12.
